Karl I. Megules

Karl Megules holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education with an emphasis in piano from Trenton State College.  In 1973 he received a Master of Music, tuba performance emphasis also from Trenton State College.  For his masters project Mr. Megules was under the tutelage of Professor Stanley Austin.  Professor Austin wrote an orchestral piece for tuba solo and orchestra and dedicated it to Mr. Megules.  Mr. Megules did a masters class with Mr. Harvey Phillips and did his principal studies with Mr. Walter E. Sear of N.Y.C.

Mr. Megules is presently principal tubist with the Greater Trenton Symphony Orchestra (Since 1981), and the Delaware Valley Philharmonic Orchestra (Since 1975).  Mr. Megules has performed with the Princeton Chamber Orchestra, The New Jersey Opera Orchestra, harpsichord soloist Igor Kipnis, Republican National Caucus-Ronald Reagan-President  Princeton Pro-Musica Orchestra,  St. Peter's Orchestra by the Sea, Cab Calloway, Bene King, Dick Hyman-Jazz Piano N.Y.C., and soloist with many orchestras and other performances to numerous to mention.

He is co-founder, along with his dear deceased wife Natalie, of the Trenton Brass Quintet Plus One and the Garden State Tuba Ensemble.  The Garden State Tuba Ensemble was one of the first Professional tuba groups in the country.  Both groups have performed steadily since 1973.

Mr. Megules has recently retired from the Bordentown Regional School District where he was the instrumental music director for 35 years.  He has also been on the adjunct faculty at Bucks County College and the Lawrenceville School.

Mr. Megules is currently the adjunct Professor of Brass Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, and Concert Band at Burlington County College.

Mr. Megules recently retired from BCC in 2007.

Mr. Megules is a contributing author of brass articles for Woodwind World-Brass and Percussion magazine.  He has also been asked to write articles for the N.Y. Brass Conference Journal.

Karl and his wife have six wonderful children (Alicia, Mary, Celeste, Karl D., Charles, and Natalie E.).  They are all accomplished musicians.
